Ticket Types
Single Journey Ticket
Can be purchased from Automated Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) and Ticket Purchase Offices (TOM).
Rapid Pass/MRT Pass
A rechargeable smart card for frequent travelers.
MRT Pass
MRT passes can be purchased from the Additional Fare Collection Office (EFO) at any Metrorail station by filling the prescribed form.
- Entry and exit can be entered and exited by touching specific points above entry and exit gates.
- Saves time as there is no need to stand in line to purchase tickets for each trip.
- 10% discount on every trip fare.
- Any amount up to Rs.10,000/- (Ten Thousand) through Automated Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) or purchase of tickets TOP UP can be done from Office (TOM).
- Usable up to 10 (ten) years.

- Can be purchased from Automated Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) and Ticket Purchase Offices (TOM).
- A maximum of 05 (five) tickets can be purchased from TVM at a time.
- Single journey tickets can only be used for one journey on the date of purchase.
- The ticket is valid for a maximum of 60 (sixty) minutes after touching the ticket at the designated place above the entry gate. In case of exceeding the prescribed period, a total sum of Tk. 200 will be fined.
- Additional fares must be paid to the Additional Fare Collection Office (EFO) if traveling in excess of the selected distance.
- Veteran freedom fighters can collect free tickets from Ticket Purchase Office (TOM) by showing ID.
- Persons with special needs can purchase tickets at a special discount of 15% from the Ticket Purchase Office (TOM) on presentation of ID.
- Tickets purchased for free or at special discounts are not transferable in any way.
- It is a punishable offense to carry a single dimension ticket without using it on the date of purchase.
- The ticket must be inserted into the slot at the exit gate at the time of departure.
Rules of Children
Children below 03 (three) feet in height can travel free of charge on Metrorail accompanied by a parent.
Time Limit for Staying in the Paid Area and Penalty for Over Stay:
Allowable time limit for staying in the paid area after touching the Single Journey Ticket/MRT Pass at the Entry Gate:
- Allowable time limit, including the travel time from Uttara North to Motijheel Metro Rail Station, is a maximum 60 (sixty) minutes. Overstaying this period will incur double of the maximum fare for this distance.
- Allowable time limit, including travel time from Uttara North to Agargaon Metro Rail Station, is a maximum 40 (forty) minutes. Overstaying this period will incur double of the maximum fare for this distance.
- The previous rule regarding exiting the same station within 5 minutes has been revoked.
If a person enters the Paid Area using a Single Journey Ticket or MRT Pass and exits from the same station without completing a trip (i.e., not boarding or travelling), a fixed penalty of BDT 100/- (One Hundred Taka) will be charged.
